109 Months

109 Months

At the end of September, my baby brother Ben finally turned 1 year old. Amen.

Or as I previously bemoaned, all the baby enthusiasts insist we must refer to as 12 months. Anyway this was a huge accomplishment for everyone involved, but particularly for me since there were many times over the past year when I feared we would not survive this golden Age of Infancy in one piece. And by “we”, I mostly mean me…

Oh the NOISE!

Oh the NOISE!

It’s been a loooong six months since my last blog post, when I told you all how I was anxiously preparing for my baby brother’s arrival. (And by preparing, I meant dreading but let’s not get caught up in the details.) So if you’re counting, that means my brother is officially 6 months old!

So in honor of my brother’s half birthday (or should I say, 3.5 years in dog years), I’d like to share a few things I've learned about babies over the past 6 months that really drive me insane, errr I mean, surprise me…

Ready or Not

Ready or Not

Mom swears it’s only been nine months, but honestly I feel like five years have passed since I found out I was getting a baby brother. And guess what? He’s supposed to show up sometime this week! Friday to be exact, but I hear babies can be pretty unreliable, so I’ll believe it when I see him. (Besides, I put a lot of money on September 27th, so keep your paws crossed for me.)

The Best of Boston

The Best of Boston

I’ve had so many great adventures this past year in the namesake city of my honorable breed – from strutting down the red brick lines of the Freedom Trail to dressing up as a lobster roll for Halloween to changing the name of my historic neighborhood Beacon Hill to Bacon Hill (still waiting for this last one to completely catch on). In fact, moving to Boston was the entire reason I decided to start this blog! I'm grateful for all the memories I've made exploring this grand city and I hope you've enjoyed them too. To honor this patriotic American city before we move onto our next adventure, I thought I'd share some of my most favorite Boston moments with you…

Spring is Here & The Bacon is Back!

Spring is Here & The Bacon is Back!

It’s been way too long since my last blog post friends. I’ve been busy hibernating through these cold, dark winter months. Can you believe it snowed here in Beantown on April 1st? I mean come on weather gods, give me a freakin’ break. But finally spring has arrived, which here in Boston means two nice sunny days, followed by five wet, soggy days. But as long as there’s no snow, you won’t hear old Bacon complain. Since the weather is warming up, I’m back in good spirits and I’m ready to start roaming the mean streets of Boston for new adventures once again.

April is a busy, exciting month here in Boston. So many big events and activities. I’ve been carefully contemplating the topic of my next blog post...

Bacon Goes to Acadia National Park

Bacon Goes to Acadia National Park

Most people who know me would probably describe me as “indoorsy”. You know, the opposite of the adrenaline-junkie, adventure-loving, vegan outdoorsy crowd. The ones who wear their puffy Marmot coats and Keen sandals and stuff all their favorite belongings into a backpack the size of Rhode Island, then go hike up and down mountains for days on end. That’s not me. It’s safe to say I’m not too fond of outdoor adventures… or people, places, or things (other animals) related to being outside. In an ideal world, I would stay within a half-mile radius of my home at all times where I’ve scouted out all the trees, memorized all the scents, and identified all the neighborhood dogs. Somewhere like Beacon Hill, where a nap is always just a short walk away. #BaconHill

So you can imagine the look on my face last month when my parents told me we were going on a road trip…

Bacon Goes Back to School

Bacon Goes Back to School

It’s that time of year again… the leaves are starting to fall, there’s a crisp breeze floating through the New England air, and ladies all around Boston are putting back the first PSLs of the season. It’s hard to deny the sure signs that Fall is finally here. But Fall is also the time of year when 998 of your 1000 dearest friends on Facebook are posting back to school pics. Photos of their stir-crazy kids waiting anxiously for the bus with their brand new kicks and oversized backpacks.  Holding chalkboard signs that say… I want to be a butcher when I grow up. (Wait, or is that just me?)

Make Friends Like a BOSS-ton

Make Friends Like a BOSS-ton

Now that I’ve been living in Beantown for a few months and the steamy summer weather is starting to cool down, Mom says I can no longer get away with being the new pup in town and hide in my apartment all day like a loner (insert eye roll here). She says I need to get out there and make some new Boston furiends. I say… why? But I’ve picked up some wisdom over my past 7 years, and when Mom asks if you want to do something, turns out you don’t really have any say in the matter at all. And so the dreaded search for new friends began...
